I still can't say goodbye 남자들의 영원한 죄책감

기타의 신 Chet Atkins가 희귀하게 노래하는 I still can’t say goodbye 입니다. 마음 깊은 곳을 잔잔하게 울려 금세 마음이 깨끗해집니다. 중년남자들의 영원한 죄책감, 아버지에 관한 노래입니다. 

  

아버지에 대한 그리움 그리고 그 아버지와 오랫동안 연락없이 지냈었던 Chet의 회한이 배어있습니다. 그리고 이 노래는.. 아버지들께 무뚝뚝했었던 대부분의 아들들.. 거울속 내 얼굴을 보다가 문득 돌아가신 아버지의 얼굴을 보고 먹먹해하는, 우리같은 철부지 아들들에게도 매우 애틋합니다.

어린 시절 아버지를 여읜 Tommy는 이 노래를 하면서 아버지를 떠올리겠지요. 물론 그가 아버지처럼 사랑하고 존경했던 Chet도 함께 말이죠. Tommy는 공연중 이 노래를 하다가 감정이 북받쳐 가끔 노래를 연결하지 못한다고 합니다. Tommy에게도 이 노래는 무척 애틋하겠습니다.

기타에 있어서는 신의 경지에 오른 두사람이지만, 이 노래를 할때만큼은 아주 간결한 기타반주로 노래에 열중하는 모습이 참 보기 좋습니다.
